A Game of Thrones begins the story of A Song of Ice and Fire series. We are thrown into the fictional world of the anecdotal Seven Kingdoms of Westeros. A Game of Thrones narrates the brutal dynastic battles among the domain’s respectable families, in order to gain control of the Iron Throne. As the book progresses, dangers start to emerge in the frigid North and also throughout the Eastern lands of Essos.
Both the books and the television show infer settings, characters and plot elements from significant past events in European history. The primary motivation for the books was the English Wars of the Roses between Lancaster and York, reflected in the houses of Lannister and Stark. The greater part of Westeros, with its strongholds and gallant competitions, is reminiscent of High Medieval Western Europe.
Take a look at the Poll below, the majority of voters discovered the books after the Television Series started.
Of course, there is much more to be said about the book and its atmosphere but to fully encapsulate the riveting experience I advise you to read the novel. I have only brushed the surface with this 200-word introduction. Honestly, not many people knew there was a book before the TV series was released.
